The Opinion Tribune dated 12-22-1993:

Sylvia Benedict, 90, of Glenwood died Dec. 15, 1993, in Council Bluffs. Funeral services were Saturday at Peterson Mortuary. Burial was at Glenwood Cemetery with Rev. Richard T. Wheatley officiating.

Mrs. Benedict was born Oct. 16, 1903, in Mills County to Edmond and Effie Alice (Seiburn) Boyce. She was a long-time Mills County resident. She married Norman Thomas Benedict on Dec. 4, 1920, in Rockport, Mo. Mrs. Benedict was a housewife and a member of the First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband and seven brothers and sisters. Survivors are her daughters, Gladys Doyel of Malvern and Viva Miller of Silver City; son, Duane Benedict of Glenwood; Sister, Goldie White of Glenwood; brothers, Ferdinand Boyce of Glenwood and Charles Boyce of Omaha; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Glenwood.
