Dr. L. T. Sidwell Dies in California

Dr. (Lawrence) T. Sidwell, 58, superintendent of the Nebraska tuberculosis hospital at Kearney 16 years until he resigned last June 1 because of ill health, died Friday of a heart attack at Pomona, California. Since leaving Nebraska last summer, he had spent most of the time at Long Beach and Pomona.

Born in Chicago, (May 1883) Dr. Sidwell came to Omaha with his parents in 1892, was graduated from Omaha High school and the University of Nebraska college of medicine, and was superintendent of the institution for feebleminded at Beatrice for several years. He also served at the institution at Glenwood, Iowa; and at Ingleside hospital for the insane at Lincoln.

Survivors: Wife, Florence; son, Samuel Miller Sidwell, chemist for the Lincoln waterworks at Ashland; daughter, Mrs. C. W. Riley, Pomona; mother, Mrs. Margaret R. Sidwell; sister, Miss Mary Alice Sidwell, both of Omaha.

Funeral services will be from the First Presbyterian church, 34th and Farnam Streets, in Omaha Tuesday, April 15, at 3 p.m. Reverend Thomas R. Niven will officiate. The body will lie in state at Brailey & Dorrance chapel Tuesday until 1 p.m.
