Ronald Arnold Kates, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Kates, was born Feb. 27, 1941, in Pacific Junction and died March 1 (1969) in Omaha after a car accident. He spent his entire life in this community. He was graduated from Pacific Junction High School.

On Dec. 8, 1961, he was united in marriage to Carol Jean Harless and to this union were born three sons---Jeffrey Lynn, 6, Terri Lee, 5, and Ronald Mark, 4.

Ronald was baptized and became a junior member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church of Pacific Junction in 1952. He served with the National Guard in Glenwood.

He was employed by the Glenwood Packing Company and for the past two years had been employed by the Wilson Packing Company in Omaha.

Besides his wife and three sons, he is survived by his parents, a sister (Joyce) Mrs. John Boyd of Broomfield, Colo.; his twin brother, Roland Kates of Washington D. C., and another brother, Randall Kates of Pacific Junction, and his great-grandmother, Mrs. W. D. Harris of Glenwood.

Services were held at 2 p.m. March 4 from Peterson Mortuary with the Rev. George Durkee and the Rev. F. G. Barnes officiating. Mrs. Alex Christensen and Mrs. Loren Fisher sang with Mrs. Dean Dusenbery as organ accompanist.

Flower bearers wre Mrs. Don DeLashmutt Jr., Mrs. LeRoy Schoening and Mrs. Harold Kurse. Pallbearers wre Harold Kruse, Floyd Hullinger, Allen Green, Larry Hostetter, Gary King and Donald Evans. Burial was in Glenwood cemetery.
