Mrs. Emanuel Garrett, an old settler of Rawles township, died Decemer 9 (1911) of pneumonia.
She was in her eighty second year and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L. J. Orton, four miles northwest of Tabor. Mr. and Mrs. Garrett were born in England and came to the United States in 1853, settling first in Utah near Salt Lake City.
In 1867 they returned to Mills County and for several years farmed near Bartlett.
In the early seventies they moved near the site of their later home.
Mrs. Garrett was the mother of eleven children, six of whom with the father still survive.
These are: Mrs. L. J. Orton of Tabor, Mrs.Sarah Swinnerton of Marysville, Wash., Mrs. Annie Harrington of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Rachel Good of Knobnoster, Mo., George Garrett of Tabor, and Mrs. Emma Boyd of Tabor.
The funeral services were held at the home of Sam Orton, Monday morning with Rev. O. R. Howard of the Tabor M. E. Church officiating. Interment was made in the Tabor cemetery.
