The Malvern Leader 28 August 1890
Died--At the home of his father, G. W. Lewis, five miles southeast of Silver City, William O. Lewis.
He was born in Mills County, Iowa, Aug. 26, 1866, and grew to manhood in our midst. He was married to Miss Leona Mort, Oct. 31, 1888. For some time past his home had been at Lincoln, Neb., where he was in the employ of a lumber company. About the first of August he received as he thought the bite or sting of an insect on the side of his face, which at the time appeared to be of little importance, but proved to be more serious until it was necessary to call in a physican. Soon eysipelas made its appearance, then blood poison came to complete the work and death ensued. Though young, stout and active, he bowed his head and died.He was 24 years and 26 days old when he left time for eternity.
He leaves a wife and infant child, parents, brothers and sisters, to mourn their loss.
His funeral was largely attended at East Liberty Church on the afternoon of the 22nd of Aug., 1890, by relatives and friends, and then we laid his body low in the vaulted tomb to await the resurrection of the dead. "And it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment" M. R. Harned
