A.D. FRENCH GETS CIVIL WAR HONOR

Order of Purple Heart Bestowed on Glenwood Veteran

A.D. French, Mills county's grand old man and 94 year old Civil war veteran, was the recipient of another honor recently when the United States government bestowed upon him an honor medal, the Order of the Purple Heart, for wounds received in action at the battle of Chicamauga, Sept. 19, 1863.

The medal is gold and heart-shaped, and on it is a raised purple heart. It is hung on a purple ribbon and engraved with name and record. Mr. French had already received, in 1912, a medal for meritorious service and is very proud of this new honor.
