BOYD-LAIRD WEDDING

A very pretty wedding occurred on Thursday, August 25th, at three o'clock in the afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Boyd when their daughter, Grace E., was united in marriage to Mr. Raymond G. Laird, son of Mr. and Mrs. P.B. Laird. Simplicity was the keynote of this wedding which was very beautiful. The impressive ring ceremony was performed by Rev. F.C. Gonzales and was witnessed by only about a dozen immediate relatives and friends. Before the ceremony Miss Helen Kline sang "I Love You Truly" and Miss Mabel Laird played the Lohengrin wedding march as the bridal party descended the stairs. The bride wore a dress of white Canton crepe. She wore a veil and carried a bridal bouquet of white roses. Goldenrod had been used in decorating and the ceremony was performed in front of a bank of goldenrod. Above, at the top of the window, was a bow of white satin with broad streamers on either side leading to fern stands, and all around was banked goldenrod. Following congratulations a luncheon was served by Miss Wihlma Hall and Mrs. Florence Adamson. In the center of the bridal table was a bowl of yellow flowers on a table mirror, and radiating from this to each place streamers of green and goldenrod. Mr. and Mrs. Laird left that afternoon on an auto trip and will be away about a week. The bride wore a traveling suit of blue tricotine with chenille embroidery, and a blue silk hat. On their return they will be with her parents for several weeks but will be home after October 15, in the Mrs. Fannie Gilbert house on Orange street. Both young people have spent practically all of their lives here and have many friends and acquaintances who are wishing them much joy and happiness. Before her marriage the bride was with the Adams Drug Company. The groom is in the implement business with his father, P.B. Laird.
