Two neighbor farmers in Rawles Twp. try to settle difficulty with spades.
A very cripples and disfigured man came to Glenwood on last Thursday (Jun 12, 1919) and filed a complaint against two of his neighbors for assault with intent to do great bodily injury.
It appears that Henry Shaw and son Everett and Earl Staten, neighbors in southwest Rawles, had had some dispute over cattle breaking into a field.
The Shaw’s went to the Staten home and the dispute that arose it is claimed attacked Staten with spades. The latter claims he was knocked over an embankment fifteen feet high and that a log was thrown on him after he fell.
As a result of the attack Staten showed a broken right forearm, mashed knuckles, and other bruises. The incident occurred on Wednesday. (Jun 11, 1919) The two men waived on Saturday (Jun 14, 1919) to the grand jury under $500.00 bond.
