The trial of the three Tarkio chicken thieves before Judge Smith has come to a sudden end yesterday, his honor taking the case from the jury and discharging the prisoners, holding that the evidence was not sufficient for a conviction for burglary.

However, the men were immediately re-arrested on the charge of larceny and before being taken before Squire Alton pleaded guilty and were sentenced to thirty days in jail.
