Malvern Leader
August 22, 1895

While driving from Malvern to Hastings one day last week with a team belonging to Will Van Ausdale, of Emerson, Mrs. L.T. Genung met with quite an accident. When driving onto the first bridge east of Frank Robbins place a single tree broke, frightening the animals so they started to run.

With rare presence of mind Mrs. G. lowered the top and sprang out at the side of the buggy. Just after she did so the vehicle was upset and thrown violently down the enbankment at the roadside. Upon arriving at the river the team was caught by the workmen on the new bridge, who assisted Mrs. Genung in temporarily strapping up the "breakages," when she coolly proceeded to complete her journey.

It would seem that the horsemanship of the Genung family is not entirely monopolized be the "old man" and the boys.
