LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF E. KERNS

I, E. Kerns, of Hillsdale, Mills County, Iowa being of sound mind and in full possession of all my mental faculties, and being conscious of the uncertainty of life and desirous that all my earthly affairs shall be arranged in the best manner possible and according to my desires do make publish and declare this, my last will and testament, hereby revoking any and all wills by me heretofore made.

First: I desire that as soon after my death as practible all of my just debts including expenses of my last sickness and burial be fully paid and discharged.

Second: In consideration of the fact that I have received much care and attention and many kindnesses from Adaline Blackman of Hillsdale Mills County, Iowa, therefore in return for said kindness and as compensation therefor I give, devise, will, and bequeathe to the said Adaline Blackman all of the rest and residue of my property both real and personal that I now own or that I may subsequently acquire and own at the time of my decease to have to hold and own or that I may subsequently acquire and own at the time of my decease to have to hold and to own as absolutely and entirely her own, for her sole use and benefit, to use, occupy or to convert into other property as she may deem best for her interest.

Third: For the purpose of the better carrying out of this will as above expressed I have this day executed my deed conveying certain lots in the town of Hillsdale, Iowa to the said Adaline Blackman, which said deed is to be filed with this instrument and at my death I desire that my executor shall then file deed for record, thus investing the said Adaline Blackman with full and entire right to the said described real estate, in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand at Malvern, Iowa on the twenty fifth day of November 1902 in the presence of Fred Durbin and William Morris to whom I have declared this to be my last will and testament and whom I have requested to sign the same as witnesses thereunto.

We, Fred Durbin and William Morris, both of Malvern, Mills County, Iowa, have heard the testator above named declare this to be his last will and testament, we have seen him sign the same and at his request and in his presence and the presence of each other we have hereto attached our names as witnesses.
