Will of Hester Ann Rains

In the name of Almighty God, Amen.

I, Hester Ann Rains of Mills County and State of Iowa being of sound mind and memory and
considering the uncertainty of the frail and transitory life, do therefor make ordain publish and
declare this to be my last Will and Testament.

That is to say first after all my just and lawful debts are paid and discharged the residue of my
estate, both real and personal, I hereby give bequeath and dispose of as follows: To my
beloved husband John Rains all the interest and right and title I have to any and all real estate
in Mills County Iowa and in Cass County Nebraska Territory to have and to hold the same
forever.

Also I hereby give and bequeath to my said beloved husband all the personal property I own or
may have any interest in at the time of my death to have and hold the same in his own right.
Hereby revoking all other and former wills by me made.

In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal this 4th day of
September A.D. 1863.

N.B. Above is evidently an error. No signature of Testator or witnesses and no certificate

Signature of Hester Ann (her mark) Rains.

The above written instrument was subscribed by the said Hester Ann Rains in our presence
and acknowledged by her to each of us and she at the same time published and declared the
above instrument so subscribed to be her last Will and Testament and we at the testators
request and in her presence have signed our names as witnesses hereto and written opposite
our names in respective places of evidence. I seen her make the mark.
