Will of Sarah Barber
I, Sarah Barber of Glenwood, Mills county, Iowa, being of sound and deposing mind and
memory do hereby make, publish and declare this to be my last will and testament hereby
expressly revoking the will heretofore made by me.1..I do hereby declare that I owe no debts but I direct that any indebtedness that may
hereinafter arise and which shall not have been settled at the time of my death and including
expenses of last sickness and funeral shall be first paid out of my estate.2..I trust to the affection of my children to make suitable provision for monument, either by
inscription on the present one or by a new one, as they prefer and so make no provision for
same in my will.3..I hereby appoint Wm. M. Lamb as the executor of this my last will and having implicit
confidence in both his integrity and business capacity, I ask that he may be allowed to qualify
by signing his own bond.4..I direct that my executor as soon after qualification as may be reasonable and best, sell all
my real estate, both farm and town property and the personal property which I may leave at my
death and of the proceeds so obtained make the following disposition
To Wit: Pay to Mary Jane Simpson One Hundred dollars.
Sarah Fall (?) Five Hundred dollars
Carrie Hill Five Hundred
Alice McKenzie Five Hundred
Sylvester H. Barber Five Hundred
Daniel Barber Five Hundred
Nancy Chambers One Hundred dollars
Wesley H. Barber Five Hundred dollars
Solomon Rains Five dollars
H.K. Barber Five dollars.
The reason why I give my son H K. but five dollars is that he has heretofore had a sufficient
allowance.After these above mentioned payments are made as so stated, I desire that all the balance of
my property including money on hand at time of my death and remainder of proceeds of sales
of my property shall be divided among the above named heirs in the same proportions as set
out in the section next preceeding this.
