Daniel S.(?) Allen

I am looking for any information you might have on my great-great-grandfather, Daniel S.(?) Allen. I am not sure of the middle name, as the inscription I have (on a walking stick of his) is hard to decipher. I know he had a farm near Marshalltown, and eventually he moved to Laurens later on in life. He and his son, Joseph Holmes Allen, built a banking and abstract company from the ground up. I am not sure if they started the banking business in Marshalltown or in Laurens. Joseph Holmes Allen lived from 1870-1948. JHA records are quite a bit easier to find, as he was mayor of Des Moines from 1936-1938, and he had ties to the Republican Party of Iowa. JHA moved to Des Moines sometime in the earlier 1930s. I do not have a name for Daniel Allen's wife, unfortunately. I do know that there is a Cramer (or Kramer) family involved in our ancestry, but I believe that's a Gilchrist marriage, not an Allen marriage.
