The Iowa Soldiers Home in Marhsalltown, Ia was a residence for veterans and/or spouses. At one time there were some cottages for couples. But most of the buildings were set up like dorms. You can obtain a complete set of records for anyone that resided there by contacting the Soldiers Home. My great-grandfather was a resident there and I was able to obtain his complete records which contained a bounty of information.
