I am not researching the DeButts family but know of them. It was a well-known name in the Melbourne, IA area when I was growing up there. Have you looked at FindAGrave? There are 16 members of the DeButts family at Maple Grove Cemetery near Melbourne and 5 at the Melbourne Memorial Gardens. The Melbourne, Iowa Centennial History Record, published in 1982, has an article about the Archibald DeButts Family. It does state that the parents of Archibald were Addison and Barbara (Coffman) DeButts. Archibald was born in 1834 in Washington County, Maryland. He married Amelia Stouffer in 1858. They came to Washington Township, Marshall County, Iowa in 1864.
