I located a birth record for her which is recorded under a little different spelling. She is listed on her birth certificate as:
Oral Johnson
Birth Date -- January 4, 1908 in Marshalltown, Marshall, Iowa
Father: M. H. Johnson
Mother: Nina D. MilliganI also looked at a copy of her original death certificate [June 3, 1937] recorded in Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington under the name Joyce Elgin, born January 4, 1908 in Union, Washington with parents Martin Janssen and Nina Milligan. Her mother, Nina, was the informant for the death certificate. Obviously, she was not born in Washington state with the Iowa birth certificate and the 1910 Marshall County, Iowa census which listed your grandmother with her parents, Martin H. and Della Janssen. The children in the family are from both his first wife, Mary and from his second wife, Nina Della.
Her father, Martin H. Janssen died on November 20, 1913 and is buried in Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown, Marshall County, Iowa.
Her mother, Nina Della (Milligan) Janssen Hutchins died January 6, 1946, also in Tacoma, Pierce, Washington.
Another note, the original Washington state death certificate lists her as Joyce Elgin, dying on June 3, 1937 in Tacoma, Pierce County, Washington. The tombstone in Mountain View Cemetery has the name, Orial V. Elgin engraved.
Hope this helps.
