Missing grandfather

The 1910 Census for Marshalltown lists a C.W. NELSON as head of family, no others, age 45 born IA employed as "ice-man". This may be my great grandfather Charles Wilbur NELSON, who was divorced in Delaware County 1889 and disappeared, until found in Los Angeles CA 1912.

Does anyone have any knowledge of this man?
