Charlotte Ann Klatt, 92, of Melbourne, Iowa passed away on February 22, 2020 at Luther Manor in Dubuque, IA.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 27, 2020 at St. John United Church of Christ in Melbourne, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will follow in Melbourne Memorial Garden Cemetery. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, Dubuque, Iowa is in charge of arrangements.

Charlotte was born on November 26, 1927 in Tama Iowa, the daughter of John and Minnie (Wantz) Harrand. She had two brothers, Sidney and Jim. They grew up in Maxwell and Melbourne where they all graduated from Melbourne High School. Charlotte married Herbert Klatt Sr. on December 11, 1943. They made their home outside of Melbourne on the family farm where they raised five children Pamela, Vickie, Herb Jr, Andrea and Jeffrey.

Charlotte had many interests and was very competitive. She excelled in everything she did. She played the accordion and the piano and was an excellent seamstress. She was a star basketball player in high school and became a bronze life master playing duplicate bridge. She had many awards as a championship bowler, love to paint pictures and was an amazing cook. There was nothing she could not do and do well.

Charlotte and Herb, with their good friends Mildred and Harold Douds, opened and operated Klatt and Douds furniture store in Melbourne for 20+ years. They traveled to New York City, Chicago and Dallas on buying trips for their merchandise. The big city style had finally come to Melbourne!

Left to cherish her memory are her three children Vickie Stahl of Melbourne, IA, Herb (Laura) Klatt of Dubuque IA, Jeffrey (Marsha) Klatt of Irmo, SC; grandchildren Bill (Lisa) Robinson, Doug (Renee) Robinson, Mitch (Jody) Robinson, Jennifer (Darin) Fagerman, Lisa (Todd) Crawford, Michael Stahl, Shannon Klatt Van Deman, Cory Klatt, Jon Durr, Matt Durr, Chad (Francesca) Klatt, Ryan (Kari) Klatt, and Jared (Jamie) Klatt;16 great grandchildren; her brother Sidney Harrand, son-in-law Rick Durr and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Klatt, parents John and Minnie Harrand, brother Jim Harrand, sisters-in-law Mary and Anita Harrand, daughters Pamela Robinson and Andrea Durr, and son-in-law Bill Robinson.
