Ernest Henry Koppey, 90, a longtime resident of this community passed away Sunday evening at the Marshall County Hospital where he had been a patient for the past four years. Death was due to complication of his advanced age.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Wensel-Perrin Funeral Home with the Rev E J Braun, pastor of the St Paul Lutheran Church officiating. Burial was in Hillside cemetery.

Mr Koppey was born January 27, 1872 the son of Henry and Regine Westphal Koppey at Echte, Hanover, Germany. At an early age he came to this country and settled in the State Center community where he had since lived. He was educated in Germany and the Marshall county public schools.

He was married to Louise Hermsmeier at Marshalltown on July 7, 1904 and she passed away in 1962.

Mr Koppey was a charter member of St Paul Lutheran Church.

He is survived by one brother, Henry of State Center and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by a sister.
