Mr. McCreery had suffered with a dreaded disease for a number of months and for most of that time he had been with Mrs. Burns.

The body is expected to reach here Saturday night and the funeral, which will be private, will probably be held at the McCreery home Sunday afternoon.

Mr. McCreery was an Illinois man. He was born in Rushville and was 78 years of age. For many years he was engaged in the lumber business on a large scale at various places in southern states. It was at that time that the Western Grocer Company mills, of which his son is manager, was being developed in its present location and it had underway large remolding and rebuilding work on the property. The elder McCreery took charge of this reconstruction work and remained here for a few years. The warmer months of each year since as an advisor and assistant to his son in the development of canning and manufacturing branches of the mills’ business and in the colder months he had been at Valrico, Fla., where he has been developing to a high state, during the last seven years, a citrus fruit orchard.

Mr. McCreery was liked and honored by his associates and those who worked with him here and his death will be much regretted by those who knew him and the many friends of the McCreery family.

Mrs. McCreery died a year after Mr. and Mrs. McCreery came here. One son, Dr. R. F. McCreery of Wahoo, Nebr. survives Mr. McCreery in addition to his son living here and Mrs. Burns.
