Was probably the Oldest Woman
in the State of Iowa – Funeral Today
~
One of the oldest women in the state of Iowa and probably in the United States is dead, in this city at the age of 105. Deceased was Mrs. Mary Morgan, of 813 Kaufman Avenue, who passed away at 9 o’clock Saturday morning of old age. The dead woman retained the full possession of her faculties and her mind remained unimpaired until the time of her death. Her illness was of short duration and her death was a peaceful as her life had been.

For the past fifty-four years Mrs. Morgan has been a resident of this city, having immigrated to this country in her early youth from Ireland, in which country she was born. The life of the deceased extended back over a period of importance in our country’s history, and was certainly of unusual interest.

Mrs. Morgan was kindly, gentle-hearted woman, and her demise even at this advanced age, will cause universal sorrow. She is survived by three sons, Thomas of this city, Patrick and Michael of New Albion, and one daughter, Mrs. Thomas J. McDonald, of St. Paul. The body was shipped to New Albion for burial.
