Leslie Verle Hilsabeck, 66, of Springville, died Monday, March 23, in Knapp Medical Center, Weslaco, Texas, from a heart attack. Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 28, at Gospel Light Baptist Church in Marion. Pastor Ronald Morrow officiated. Burial was in Springville Cemetery. Pallbearers were Tony Tosh, Ken Sawyer, Bill Nelson, Dan Berning, Jim Hilsabeck, David Hilsabeck and Larry Hilsabeck. Les was born the son of Delbert and Inez Abbey Hilsabeck on February 26, 1932, in Ferguson. On May 22, 1953, he married Fannie Hemmen in Ackley. Les served with the military police in the U.S. Marines during peacetime. For many years he worked at Rockwell-Collins, retiring in 1987. He was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church, Marion. Survivors include his wife, Fannie of Springville; a son, Rod Hilsabeck of Arlington, Texas; 4 daughters, Liz Tosh (Tony) of Fort Riley, Kansas; Patty Sawyer (Ken) of Arlington, Texas; Linda Nelson (Bill) of Springville and Debbie Berning (Dan) of Boulder, Colorado; 5 sisters, Edythe West (Ray) of Shreveport, Louisiana, Jean Frey (LeRoy) of Ackley, Shirley Keller of Denver, Colorado, Marilyn Jackson of Vancouver, Washington and Charlene Burton of Springfield, Missouri; 3 brothers, Merle Hilsabeck (Marge) of Keithville, Louisiana, Jim Hilsabeck (Fran) of Marshalltown and Larry Hilsabeck (Lois) of Wills Point, Texas; and 9 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
