FRED BENTON PAXSON

Fred Paxson, 79, 913 S. 11th Ave., died at the Evangelical Hospital Monday morning where he had been a patient for the last three weeks. He was born Jan. 18, 1877 at Montour, the son of Josiah and Rebecca Hayes Paxson. He grew to manhood in the Montour community and received his education at the LeGrand Friends Academy. In August of 1898 he was married to Susie Dimmitt at LeGrand. She died in 1928. A son also preceded him in death in 1936. Three sons, Walter L. of Gilman, Max R. of Montour and Robert B. of Marshalltown, survive. On Jan. 1, 1931 he married Mabel Graves, who survives. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of a family of eight children. He had spent his entire life in Marshall County with the exception of a few years in Missouri. He had farmed his entire life until his retirement in 1931 and had since made his home in Marshalltown. Mr. Paxson was a member of the Albion Methodist Church. Services will be from the Etel-Perrin Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday Burial will be in the Albion Cemetery.
