Death Takes Bill West

William "Bill" West, former well known resident of the Fairfield Community, died Wednesday evening in a hospital at Dallas, Texas, following a lengthy illness.

Mr. and Mrs. West had spent the winter in Dallas with their daughter and family and were planning to move to that city from Marshalltown.

Last rites will be Saturday, April 20, at 11 a.m. at the Purcel-Davis Funeral Home in Marshalltown with Masonic services.

William West was born May 8, 1891, in Marshalltown and made his home in Fairfield over 40 years. He was associated with the Marshall Oil Co. when he moved to Fairfield in 1918.

He joined the sales staff of the Dexter Co. in 1926 and continued with that firm until his retirement in 1956. He served two terms as a member of the Fairfield City Council.

He and his wife, the former Ruth Wooster, moved to Marshalltown in May, 1956. Their home in Fairfield was at 807 E. Broadway which they sold to Charles Eastburn.

In addition to his widow, West is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Richard P. Dunn, Dallas, Texas; two grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Edna Duvalt.

Mrs. Dunn's present address is 3473 St. Cloud Circle, Dallas, Texas, 75229.
