BLAYNE GILBERT, 85

Blayne Gilbert, 85, of Marshalltown, died Oct. 3, 2008, at his home while under the care of Iowa River Hospice.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Rose Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown. Memorials in honor of Blayne may be directed to Iowa River Hospice or Home Care Plus. Arrangements have been entrusted to Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home.

Blayne was born Dec. 27, 1922, the son of Harvey and Nellie (Peters) Gilbert in Marshalltown, Iowa, where he was raised and attended grade school. On Aug. 15, 1942, he was united in marriage to Donna Craig in Prairie du Chien, Wis. Blayne worked as a buildings and grounds attendant at Fisher Controls for 33 years retiring in 1985.

Blayne will be missed by his wife, Donna; daughter, Helen Tomlinson; granddaughters, Gina and Darla Tomlinson; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren, all of Marshalltown.

Blayne was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; two sisters; and son, Harvey Gilbert who died in Vietnam in 1966.
