Last Rites Held for Leonard Powers, 73

Funeral services for Leonard L. Powers, 73, of Osgood, who died Friday from an illness, were held at the Methodist Church at Graettinger, Tuesday, forenoon. The Rev. R. E. Hodgkin officiated. Burial was in Dillavon Cemetery at Ralsotn, Iowa. The Martin Funeral Home of Graettinger was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were James Currans, Ed Herke, Gilbert Osher, James Mahan, Rolfe Lundgren and Merle Hankey.
Leonard Leslie Powers son of James and Talitha Powers, was born in Carroll County, November 2, 1881. He spent many of his years as a painter and interior decorator. He lived in Ralston, Iowa and also in Clinton. In 1928 he moved to a farm in Emmetsburg where he farmed for 10 years.
He was married at Grinnell March 26, 1918 to Rosetta Hill. She died November 24, 1932.
December 17, 1935 he married Mrs. Leona McClelland, who also died March 1, 1946.
He is survived by a brother Whitney Powers of San Diego, California, a sister Mrs. Minnie Chase of Castana, Iowa, two nephews Elbert Powers of Emmetsburg and Elmer Powers of Marshalltown, seven step-children Lend Grove of Phoenix, Arizona, Gladys, Lewis, Robert McClelland, Alma McDaniels, Frances Parryman, Alleta Pope and Jaunita DeLoe all of Clinton and many other relatives and friends.
