BENJAMIN G. FALLIS IS BURIED HERE THURSDAY

Funeral services for Benjamin G. Fallis, who died Monday at his home in St. Louis, Mo., were held Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Pursel funeral home in charge of Rev. B. J. Trickey. Burial was in Riverside. The members of Marshall lodge No. 108, A.F.&A.M. attended in a group and held services in the funeral home and at the grave in charge of N. L. Hicks, acting master, and L. C. Hampton, chaplain. Pallbearers were L. F. Bowman, E. W. Hall, C. J. Moffatt, B. C. Weldt, William Jennings and C. A. Dicks. Relatives attending the services from out of the city were Mrs. B. G. Fallis of St. Louis, Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Fallis and son David of Pacific, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Glenn R. McCarty and son Charles of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Lyman J. Fallis, Jr. of Overland Park, Kan., Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Heath of Albert Lea, Minn., and daughter Helen of Minneapolis, Minn., and Mr. and Mrs. George A. Swartz of Peoria, Ill. B. F. Harris and Miss Irene Schaadt accompanied the body to this city as representatives of the Southern railroad. Mr. Fallis was born March 25, 1863, in Ridgeway, Ohio. He started as an office boy for the old Iowa Central railroad at the age of 14 in Marshalltown and continued with that road for several years. Thirty-eight years ago, he was employed by the Southern railroad and worked for that road at various stations on its line thru the southern states until going to St. Louis 30 years ago when he became assistant general manager. He retired in 1939. He married Miss Minnie M. Heath in Marshalltown on June 30, 1892. Besides his widow, he is survived by two children, L. J. Fallis of Pacific, Mo., and Mrs. Glenn R. McCarty of Des Moines. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Glenn R. McCarty who is American vice council at Bogata, Colombia, South America, Charles F. McCarty of Des Moines, Lyman J. Fallis, Jr., of Overland Park, Kan., Benjamin G. Fallis, Jr., U.S. navy at Miami, Fla., and David Fallis of Pacific, Mo. Two brothers, Harry Fallis of Belle Fountaine, Ohio, and Eugene W. Fallis of East St. Louis, Ill., also survive. Mr. Fallis was a member of Marshall lodge No. 108, A.F.&A.M., for 52 years, a 32 degree Mason at St. Louis, and a member of Moolah Shrine in St. Louis.
