GEORGE TIMMONS TO BE BURIED AT MARIETTA

Funeral services for George W. Timmons, 75, of Colorado Springs, Col., who died Saturday noon at the Evangelical Deaconess hospital in Marshalltown, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Estel funeral home. Damascus lodge No. 268, A.F.&A.M. of Albion, and B.P.O.E. No. 312 of Marshalltown will have charge of the services. Burial will be in the Marietta cemetery. Mr. Timmons was born Oct. 23, 1871, at Marietta, the youngest son of Robert M. and Nancy Shively Timmons. Growing to manhood in that commmunity, he attended the schools there. Later he attended the Albion seminary and the Canadian Veterinary college at Toronto, Canada. He served for several months in the U.S. army during the Spanish-American war. On March 4, 1911, he married Nellie Butterfield in this city and they established their home on a farm in the Marietta neighborhood. They moved to Colorado Springs in 1928. Mr. Timmons was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal church and A.F.&A.M. and Albion chapter No. 203, O.E.S., at Albion, and B.P.O.E. lodge No. 312 of Marshalltown. Surviving besides the widow are two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Shewalter of Marietta and Mrs. Emma T. Anson, 1216 West State street, city, and one brother, John A. Timmons of Marietta. He was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother, and a son, John M., in 1934.
