ONE OF FIRST WHITE CHILDREN BORN IN COUNTY DIES

Albion---(Special)---Mrs. Ann Wiley of Albion has received word of the death of her aunt, Mrs. Adam Fiscus, a former Marshall county resident, on Nov. 14 at Alma, Neb. Mrs. Fiscus, 91, was born Mahulda Ann Elsberry, daughter of Ayres and Martha Elsberry, near what is now Ferguson, on Aug. 21, 1850, one of the first white children born in the county. On Nov. 4, 1876 she was married to Adam Fiscus and the following year the couple moved to Audubon county where they lived until 1903 when they moved to Alma, Neb. Mr. and Mrs. Fiscus were the parents of fifteen children, four of whom, Alfred, Frank, Elva and Elmer, preceded their mother in death. Surviving are six sons, Ed and Mert of New Raymer, Col.; Roy of Bayard, Neb.; Paaren of Kirkman; Earl of Alma, Neb.; and Harlan of Farson, Wyo.; and five daughters, Florence Fiscus, Bayard, Neb.; Clara Fiscus, Farson, Wyo.; Mrs. Lessie Mohr, Derby, Col.; Mrs. Ethel Kersey and Mrs. Nettie Humphries, both of Alma, Neb. Also surviving are a brother, Thomas Elsberry, of Marshalltown, 50 grandchildren and 59 great grandchildren. Burial was at Alma, Neb.
