FRED BRIERLEY SERVICES TO BE HELD FRIDAY

Services for Fred R. Brierley, 65, 534 N. 1st St., who died at his home Monday of a heart attack will be from Estel-Perrin Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Friday in charge of the Rev. James E. Smith, pastor of Central Christian Church. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Born Sept. 3, 1891 in Marshalltown, he was the son of Charles F. and Amanda Winters Brierley. He received is education in the Marshalltown Public Schools and had been a resident of the county all of his life with the exception of two years spent in Wyoming. ON JUNE 19, 1920 he was married to Gertrude L. Shahan and the couple always lived in Marshalltown. Mr. Brierley had been employed at Lennox Industries for more than 30 years. As a young man he was employed at Marshall Canning Co. Mr. Brierley served with the 82nd Air Squadron during World War I, enlisting Sept. 18, 1918 and being discharged July 12, 1919. He was a member of the Central Christian Church. PRECEDING HIM in death were his parents and two sisters in infancy. Surviving are his widow, three daughters and one son, Ensign Donald L. Brierley, stationed with the Navy in Alameda, Calif., Mrs. Eugene Gazaway of Texas City, Texas, Mrs. Jackson D. Daniels and Mrs. LaVern Wolken, both of Marshalltown. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, three brothers and two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Knotwell of Encampment, Wyo., Louis Brierley of Green Mountain, Mrs. Etta Dawson, Walter and Herbert Brierley all of Marshalltown.
