FORMER LISCOMB RESIDENT IS DEAD

LISCOMB---(Special)---Relatives have learned of the death of the Rev. William J. Lhamon of Columbia, Mo., a former Liscomb resident who was 100 Sept. 16. He died in a hospital at Columbia, where services and burial were Oct. 30. Dr. Lhamon, son of Frank and Julia McKibben Lhamon, was born in Ohio Sept. 16, 1855, came to Liscomb in the early '70's and taught school in Marshall County rural schools. Pastor of Christian churches in Ohio, Minneapolis, Minn., Toronto, Canada, and Allegheny, Pa., as a young man, he went to Columbia in 1891 as dean of the Bible College of Missouri and later was dean of the Bible department of Drury College, Springfield, Mo. After his retirement from teaching in 1921, he and Mrs. Lhamon lived for four years in Liscomb and he spoke in a number of Marshalltown churches. They returned then to Columbia, where he continued to lecture and preach until he was almost 90. He wrote several books and magazine articles on religious subjects. Surviving are the widow, 96; two of their six children, William Lloyd Lhamon, Fairbanks, Alaska, and Mrs. B. R. Watskins of Columbia; eight grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
