FRED HERRON, 69, DIES SUNDAY AFTER STROKE

Fred Herron, 69, one and one-half miles east of Green Mountain, died at his home Sunday morning at 12:30 a.m. He suffered a stroke at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Mr. Herron had been in failing health for the past year but his death was unexpected. Fred Vernon Herron was born in Lee County, Illinois, Jan. 22, 1877 the son of Joseph and Ida Starks Herron. The family moved to Conrad when he was five years old and he attended the Conrad schools. On Dec. 6, 1899 he married Mary Eleanor Stull and the couple established a home on a farm east of Conrad. They moved to the present farm home in 1903. Mr. Herron was a member of the Congregational church. Surviving besides the widow are two sons, Leonard S. of Dell Rapids, S.D., and Edward E. Herron of Indianapolis, Ind.; one daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Moller of Green Mountain and one sister, Mrs. L. E. Hutchison of Des Moines. Three grandchildren also survive. Preceding him in death was one sister, Mrs. Ed Stolz. Services will be held at the Estel funeral home at 3 p.m. Tuesday in charge of Rev. Homer Doak, pastor of the Green Mountain Congregational church. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery at Beaman.
