Mrs. Mary A. Condon, 83, former LeGrand resident, died at 9:37 p.m. Tuesday at Evangelical Deaconess hospital where she had been a patient since March 9, 1949. She had been in failing health for several years. Mary A. Bratt, daughter of Christopher and Aurinda Bratt, was born July 15, 1866 in Tama county. In 1872 the family moved to Quarry and she grew to womanhood and was educated in that community. In 1879 she entered the Friends academy at LeGrand and was graduated with the lass of 1884, and later was graduated from the Elliott business college at Burlington in 1886. MARRIED IN 1890 On Oct. 6, 1890, she was married to E. L. Condon of Belle Plaine. They lived in Boone, Quarry, Belle Plaine, Marshalltown and LeGrand. Mrs. Condon was active in church affairs and in 1897 was president of the County Christian Endeavor Union and in 1907 was Fifth district president and state junior superintendent. Mrs. Condon was a member of the Friends church at LeGrand later transferring her membership to the church here. She also belonged to the Townsend club and Garden club. HUSBAND DIED IN 1946 Mr. Condon died July 14, 1946. Also preceding her in death were two brothers and a sister. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. Services will be at the Friends church at 2 p.m. Saturday in charge of Rev. Orval H. Cox and Rev. Leonard Hibbs. Burial will be in Riverside. Friends may call at the Estel funeral home until 10 a.m. Saturday.
