THURSTON DIES IN GAS-FILLED ROOM AT HOME

Arthur Thurston, 70, 201 South Third street, was found dead Sunday morning in his gas-filled room by his landlady, Mrs. G. C. Mullinex. Dr. D. Dale Harris, Marshall county coroner, said death apparently was accidental as the window and transom were open. He said Thurston was believed to have been preparing breakfast on a gas burner which went out. SERVICE IS SET Services will be held at the Pursel funeral home at 3 p.m. Wednesday in charge of Rev. Orval E. Walker. Burial will be in the Liscomb cemetery. Son of Milton and Olive Thurston he was born at Liscomb Aug. 25, 1878. They lived in the Bethel Grove neighborhood many years. He was one of a family of four. SISTER ON WAY HERE Surviving are two sisters, Esther Gruver of Frankfort, S.D. who is coming here for services; Mrs. Mildred Cox of Hayward, Wis., and a brother, Don, of Walla Walla, Wash. The late Mrs. Lee Ralston of Albion was a half-sister. A nephew, John Ralston, lives at 511 South Fourth street. Mrs. Lester Weatherly of Libertyville, Ill., is a niece. Mr. Thurston was a member of the Central Christian church in Marshalltown and the I.O.O.F. lodge at Liscomb.
