BORN IN OHIO
Mrs. Beeghly was born Frances Murray, Nov. 11, 1845, at the old Murray homestead in Orange township, Ashland county, Ohio. Her parents were Hugh and Elizabeth Nazor Murray. The old Murray homestead where Mrs. Beeghly spent her early life was a soldier's grant of 285 acres from the United States government to her grandfather, Patrick Murray, who served during the revolutionary war at what is now Detroit, Mich., and also fought in the War of 1812.Mrs. Beeghly's father was the youngest of 14 Murray children and stayed with his parents to run the farm, living in one side of the colonial mansion which replaced the early log cabin home.
Grandmother Beeghly was the second child in the family of five children and was the last survivor of her father's family. She was married to Samuel Beeghly Sept. 7, 1865, and they lived on a tract between the Murray and Beeghly homesteads until 1882 when they came to Marshall county and bought 200 acres near State Center where they lived until March, 1901.
MOVE TO LISCOMB
At that time they moved three and one-quarter miles northeast of Liscomb where they bought the S. B. Smith and John Hawk quarter section and built two complete sets of farm buildings. In 1905 a son, T. C. Beeghly, purchased the Smith farm and two years later the Hawk farm was sold to James Skuse. After selling their land, Mr. and Mrs. Beeghly went to California, later trading their land there for a 600 acre wheat ranch in Alberta, Canada. Since Mr. Beeghly's death July 6, 1921, Mrs. Beeghly has been making her home with her son in Liscomb. Until recent years she made many trips to relatives in Ohio. She has two sons, T. C. Beeghly of Liscomb, and Calvin Beeghly of Fallon, Nev. The latter served in the Spanish-American war with Company H of Marshalltown.
Mrs. Beeghly has 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Her two youngest grandsons are in the army, Staff Sgt. Harold R. Beeghly, at San Luis Obispo, Calif., and Sgt. Calvin A. Beeghly at Stockton, Calif.
Mrs. Beeghly was a lifelong member of the Church of the Brethern.
