Michael Richard Hoeksema went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, March 18, 2013. Funeral service will be 12 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2013 at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave. in Des Moines, with burial at Iowa Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.

Michael was born in Marshalltown, Iowa on October 29, 1984 to John and Regina of Bondurant, IA. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, including Korea, from 2007 to 2010. Michael was deeply loved by his parents, his brother Matthew, Matthew's wife, Nikki, and his niece Cloey.

He is also survived by his grandparents: Marvin and Doris Hoeksema of Ankeny, IA, and Marvin and Suzette Paul of Eldora, IA; and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins. His family was blessed to have Michael for 28 years and look forward to the day they will meet again.

Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Michael to the Wounded Warrior Project.
