ERIC N. BAKKE

Eric N. Bakke, 49, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2013. Eric was born on November 16, 1963, to Charlene (Fadness) and Richard Bakke in Marshalltown, Iowa. He graduated high school in 1982, after high school he continued his education at Devry University where he graduated in 1986. He married his high school sweetheart Lori (Beadle) Bakke, and been together ever since. Eric was a wonderful husband, loving father and a great friend. While in college, he worked many odd jobs. He delivered furniture for Jennings Furniture, where he also learned his skills of home repairs. Since Eric was 9 years old he helped his dad restore antique furniture. Where they would take old pieces of furniture and bring them to life or he would build his very own putting his own twist on it. He was a handyman and enjoyed teaching himself how to repair anything. Eric had many hobbies; from hunting deer to the elusive morel mushrooms, fishing, playing softball, bowling every Wednesday night, watching Nascar, Jeff Gordon being his favorite driver, reading books by Stephen King. But his favorite hobby was spending time with his loved ones, just sitting back and relaxing when he would, anytime he did relax he felt like he wasted the day. He loved being outside. He got great satisfaction out of helping his friends. He believed in the good of people. He was always the one to call no matter what the problem was. As a father, he wanted to be our best friend and he was. He was someone to talk too about anything and everything. He loved his children and all the little quirks they have. He adored his wife and spoiled her rotten. He did anything he could for his family. Eric worked at Sprint for over 20 years, when he was not working he loved riding his bike with the wind in his face. He was always in a hurry and never on time. Always needed to be doing something, keeping busy. He was preceded in death by his father Richard Bakke, both maternal and paternal grandparents, mother-in-law Janice Smith. Eric is survived by his loving wife, Lori Bakke; three kids, Aaron Bakke, Andy Bakke and Alyssa Bakke; Mother, Charlene Bakke; two brothers, Dave Bakke and wife Amy of Muscatine, IA, Earl Bakke and wife Pam, of Oklahoma; two sisters, Mary Nurre and husband Steve of China, Martha Eggers of Marshalltown, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 18, 2013, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons – Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210. Interment will follow at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, Overland Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October17, 2013, at the Johnson County Chapel.
