Cecile Parmley Services Set

Cecile Messer Parmley, 66, of Rte. 2, Gilman, died Friday evening at University Hospital in Iowa City where she had been a patient since April.

Funeral services for Mrs. Parmley will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith funeral Home, with the Rev. Daniel Ogata, pastor of the Grinnell United Presbyterian Church, officiating. Organist will be Mrs. Eugene Holley. Pallbearer will be Richard Coppock, Raymond Frazier, Hollis Parmley, William Peak, and Vernon Turner. Burial will be at the Prairie View Cemetery at Gilman.

The daughter of Bert and Nellie O'Grady Messer, she was born Oct. 22, 1910, at Rome, Iowa. She attended school in Rome. On Aug. 11, 1926, she was married to Vursel P. Parmley at Newton. Following their marriage, the couple lived in the Grinnell area until 1952 when they moved to Gilman. Mrs. Parmley was a member of the Grinnell United Presbyterian Church and was a former member of the Around the World Circle.

She is survived by her husband; her children, Thomas P. Parmley of Grinnell, Mrs. Mary Eileen Barker and Linda Sue Parmley, both of Gilman; 10 grandchildren; and two sisters, Margaret Messer of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Mrs. Clarice Fitch of Mt. Pleasant. She was preceded in death by her parents; two children, Aloha Marie Parmley, who died in infancy, and Leland Jack Parmley, who died Oct. 14, 1973; and two sisters.
