Thomas Gilbert Johnson, age 54, died October 24, 2011 in Eldora IA.

Born December 8, 1956 in Brainerd MN.
Parents: James and Lois (VanVickle) Johnson.

Tom cherished the time he shared with son Willie - watching football, fishing, driving the tractor, flying kites, roller blading, bicycling, playing Wii, grilling steaks, or even just sitting together talking. With Willie, he was patient, kind and had peace when they were together.

Tom loved the outdoors - riding motorcycles, canoeing, snowmobiling, hiking, just about anything that involved outdoors. It didn't matter if it was 10 degrees or 90 degrees, you'd find him outdoors doing something. He enjoyed cooking and gardening, even did some canning. He made great pickles - grown in the backyard, along with veggies, horseradish and herbs.

He held very fond memories of his family and the friends he grew up with in Minnesota and spoke highly of them often. Oh, how he loved to tell the stories!

Survived by: son William of Marshalltown IA; brothers Timothy and Todd (Brenda); sisters, Tammy (Scott) Johnson-Kohl, Teresa Johnson, and Deb (Ken) Niemela; and special friend, Darla Bailey.

Preceded in death by parents.

Memorial service held Saturday, October 29 at Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Chapel.
