Clayton Wells Conte, 93, died October 24, 2011 in North Carolina at Pennbyrn at Maryfield.

Born August 1, 1918 in Austin TX
Parents: Sigismondo R. Conte and Grace (Gloyd) Conte Rindsig
Graduate Of Spencer (IA) High School and attended Iowa State University

Married: (1) Betty Cameron on June 1, 1940. She died in 1993.
(2) Katherine L. (Godsey) Conte. They were married 12 years.

In 1947 he founded Marshall Concrete Products and operated it until sold in 1998.

Army Air Corps (U.S. Air Force) Veteran serving during WWII as a B-24 Lead Crew Pilot of the 701st Squadron of the 445th Bomb Group in the 2nd division of the Eighth Air Force.

Member of Elks Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion Post 839, life member of American Trap Shooting Association, and a member of First Congregational Church, all in Marshalltown IA. Also member of Kiwanis Club and Emmanuel Lutheran Church, all in High Point NC.

Survivors: wife Katherine; two daughters: Samantha (Kenn) Wagaman of St Charles MN and Susan (David) Atherton of Renner SD; grandson Kurt (Ann) Wagaman of St Charles MN; two great-grandchildren: Cole and Grace Wagaman of St. Charles MN; two step-children: Larry (Janet) Leal and Carol (Tony) Henderson, all of Houston TX; four step-grandchildren: Scott Schooler of San Diego CA, Craig Schooler of Seattle WA, Mark Schooler and Adam Henderson, both of Houston TX.

Preceded in death by: first wife, Betty; sister Cleo (Conte) Johnston; step-father Nels Rindsig; five Rindsig siblings; infant grandson Jeffrey Wagaman.

Buried at Riverside Cemetery, Marshalltown IA, following graveside service with full military rites presented by VFW Harry C. Harder Post 839. Arrangements were handled by Cumby Funeral Service, 1015 Eastchester, High Point NC 27262.
