MCKIBBEN RITES DUE WEDNESDAY

Joseph McKibben, 93, formerly of Route 4 and more recently of the Iowa Veterans Home died Sunday morning at the U. S. Veterans Hospital in Des Moines. Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. from Pursel-Davis Funeral Home with the Rev. Timothy Murtaugh officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Grove Cemetery near Liscomb. Mr. McKibben was born Dec. 16, 1891, in Hardin County, the son of Finley and Nettie Ulery McKibben. He married Mabel Price on March 5, 1920, in Albion. She preceded him in death in September of 1979. Survivors include a daughter Doris (Mrs. Vernon) Milligan of Marshalltown, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also a brother, Gerald McKibben, of Marshalltown. He was preceded in death by two daughters, two grandsons and three sisters. Reared and educated in Marshall County, he and his wife farmed near Albion until 1936 when they moved to Green Mountain where they lived until 1966 when they moved to the Wolfe Lake area. He entered the Veterans Home in 1980 following the death of his wife. A member of Central Christian Church, VFW World War I Barracks No. 1164. He had also served as a deacon and an elder in the Christian Church.
