UNION --- Ivan Nelson, 82, Union, died early Saturday at Eldora Community Hospital. Services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Union Community Church, with burial in Liscomb Cemetery. the Rev. Lloyd McDonald and the Rev. Preston Hinderks will officiate. He was born May 7, 1892, at Coalton, Ill., a son of Granville and Laura Botts Nelson. He was reared and educated in Illinois and Iowa. He was employed at the Union school for many years, and did carpenter work, retiring in the late 1950s. On July 24, 1945, he married Pearl Norman in Union. She survives along with two step-children, Ms. Chris (Gertrude) Fricke, Marshalltown, and Kenneth Adams, Liscomb; seven step-grandchildren and 26 step-great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Marshall, Union; and Mrs. Herbert (Elva) Meyer, Coalinga, Calif. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. He was a veteran of World War I, a 50-year member of the Union American Legion. Memorials may be directed to the heart fund.
