SERVICES SET SATURDAY FOR MRS. HURD

Services for Rev. Olive G. Hurd, 91, formerly of 11 N. 6th St., who died Wednesday morning at the Minnesota Valley Memorial Hospital in Le Sueur, Minn., will be from the Central Christian Church at 10 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Richard Walters, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the Estel-Perrin Funeral Home Friday and at the church until the service hour. Mrs. Hurd had been hospitalized in Des Moines and Marshalltown from July until being transferred to the Le Sueur hospital Aug. 16. BORN AT MANNING Born Olive Grace Long Aug. 15, 1882 at Manning, she was the daughter of Frank and Rosalyn Arney Long. She was a rural school teacher before her marriage to the Rev. Harland C. Hurd in 1908. They served churches at Pleasantville, Estherville, Rock Rapids, Sheldon, Garwin, and Redfield, Iowa as well as Donna, Texas, and Fairmont, Minn. Mrs. Hurd was ordained a minister in the Christian Church, Disciples, in 1924 at Sheldon by M. W. Baker, State Secretary and by the Elders of the Sheldon and Rock Rapids Christian Churches. RETIRED IN 1948 Since her retirement from the Garwin Christian Church in 1948 she has resided in Marshalltown where she was active in the Woman's Club, Drama Club, Business and Professional Women's Club, Shakespeare Club, the Order of Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Hurd was an active member of the Central Christian Church and taught a Sunday School Class for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1944. Surviving are two sons, Frank of Le Sueur, Minn., and Cuthbert of Portola Valley, Calif. A sister, Mrs. Nola Boss of Des Moines, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.
