MRS. CLAY DIES AT 80

Liscomb --- (Special) --- Mrs. Maude Clay, 80, a life-long resident of the Beaman, Green Mountain and Liscomb communities, died at 12:05 a.m. Monday at Mercy Hospital in Marshalltown. SHE WAS born May 1, 1882, in Eldora to William Anson and Henrietta Evelyn Leary Hallock. On March 18, 1907, she was married to Richard C. Clay. For the last two years she had made her home with her daughters, Mrs. Cecil (Florence) Miller, Marshalltown, and Mrs. Earl (Lucille) Weatherly, Liscomb. Also surviving are a step-daughter, Mrs. Elsa Ridgeway, Kansas City, Kan., 15 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. SHE WAS preceded in death by her husband March 31, 1950; a daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Elvira) Gale in 1961 and a sister, Mable, in infancy. Services are pending at the Biersborn Funeral Home in Union.

MRS. CLAY RITES SET WEDNESDAY

Liscomb --- (Special) --- Services for Mrs. Maude Clay, 80, who died Monday at a hospital in Marshalltown will be from the Liscomb Church of Christ at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Wesley Hustad, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Marshalltown will officiate with burial in the Bethel Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Clay had made her home the last 20 years with her daughter, Mrs Earl Weatherly of Liscomb and Mrs. Cecil Miller, 917 S. 8th Ave. She had been in failing health the last six months. The Biersborn Funeral Home at Union is in charge of arrangements.
