FORMER CITY RESIDENT DIES IN INDIANA

John Leonard Griggs, 78, former Marshalltown resident passed away in South Bend, Ind., Wednesday evening. Mr. Griggs had made his home in Rolling Prairie, Ind., since 1947 until his hospitalization. Death was attributed to complications of advanced age. BORN IN Marshall County Aug. 17, 1881, he received his education and grew to manhood in this community. On April 22, 1903, he was married to Myrtle Denbow and they made their home in this area until moving to South Dakota, prior to moving to Rolling Prairie in 1947. Preceding him in death was his wife in 1959, a brother and his parents. SURVIVING is a daughter, Mrs. Gus Banzhaf of Rolling Prairie, two sisters and a brother, Burt Griggs of Marshalltown, Mrs. Raymond Bivens of Colorado and Mrs. Clis Hilsabeck, also of Marshalltown. Services will be from the chapel at Estel-Perrin Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in charge of the Rev. Wesley Hustad, pastor of the Baptist Temple. Burial will be in the Bethel Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at Estel-Perrin after noon on Friday.

JOHN GRIGGS BURIED IN BETHEL GROVE

Services for John Leonard Griggs, 78, former Marshalltown resident who died in South Bend, Ind., Wednesday were from the chapel at Estel-Perrin Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in charge of the Rev. Wesley Hustad, pastor of the Baptist Temple. Burial was in the Bethel Grove Cemetery. Bearers were Lloyd and Ralph Hilsabeck, Maurice and Lowell Griggs, Carl Ulery and Cady Smith. Mr. Griggs had been making his home with his daughter Mrs. Gus Banzhaf in Rolling Prairie, Ind., since 1947.
