Services To Be Held Tuesday For Mrs. Drake

UNION ---(Special)--- Mrs. Effie Ewalt Miller Drake, 79, a long-time resident of Union, died Sunday morning at the Evangelical Hospital in Marshalltown. She was born March 28, 1886, at Ferguson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David E. Ewalt. She had lived in the Liscomb and Bethel neighborhoods, Howard County and since 1931 in Union. She was married to Carey Miller in 1902, who died in 1926. In August 1931, she was married to Fred Drake who died in 1953. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Burleigh Ewalt and a son, Carl and two daughters. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Rena) Elery of Marshalltown, and Mrs. Genevieve Morris of Union; two sons Arlyn Miller of Union and Earl Miller of New Providence; 12 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Ivan Nelson; a brother Will Ewalt of Liscomb and several half brothers and sisters. She was a member of the Community Church, past worthy matron of Alpha Chapter, OES, past noble grand of Daffodil Rebekah Lodge and the Legion Auxiliary. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Community Church, Rev. Leonard Wilfong will officiate. Burial will be at Bethel Grove. The Biersborn Funeral Home is in charge.
