Death at Bethel Grove

Mrs. Rebecca Hilsabeck Dies at Her Home Quite Suddenly

Mrs. Rebecca A. Hilsabeck, an old and well-known resident of the Bethel Grove neighborhood, died quite suddenly at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon of heart disease induced by goiter. She had been in poor health for a year. Mrs. Hilsabeck was up and about a half-hour before her death.
Mrs. Hilsabeck was born Fiscus in Owen County, Indiana, in April 1855, being the fourth daughter of Abraham and Eveline Fiscus. She was united in marriage in 1878 with Solomon Hilsabeck, and went to live on a farm in Timber Creek Township. Later the family moved to Bethel Grove, which has since been Mrs. Hilsabeck’s home. Mr. Hilsabeck died about fifteen years ago.
Surviving Mrs. Hilsabeck are six children, in the persons of Mrs. John Hanes, of Haverhill; Mrs. Charles George, of Jefferson; Benjamin Hilsabeck of Dolliver; Mrs. Myron Ewalt, of Clarion; Finley Hilsabeck, of Liscomb; and Miss Addie Hilsabeck, who is at home. Mrs. Hilsabeck also has five sisters and one brother. They are Mrs. Hulda Hubbell, of Kansas; Mrs. Mary Hubbell and Aaron Fiscus, of Arkansas; Mrs. Margaret Rankin, of Liscomb; Mrs. Anna Pease, of Albion, and Mrs. Emma Arney of Terre Haute, Indiana.
Mrs. Hilsabeck was a member of the Bethel Grove Christian Church for many years.
Funeral services will be held from the Bethel Grove Church Sunday afternoon at 2:30, in charge Rev. George Biersborn, of Liscomb. The church will be open to friends at 1:30. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery.
