E. M. HILSABECK DEAD

---Old Resident Passes Away at Home Near City---

Elvin M. Hilsabeck, 81, a resident of Marshall county for many years, died at his home, six miles south of this city at 11:15 Thursday night of complications due to age. Mr. Hilsabeck was born in Owen county, Indiana, Sept. 23, 1842 and came to Iowa when 10 years old and settled in this county. He married Polly Hauser in 1863 and after her death married Martha Fiscus in 1865. The second Mrs. Hilsabeck died in 1902 and he married Mrs. Melia Robinson who survives him. One son, of the first marriage, C. H. Neff, of Liscomb, and eight children of the second marriage are living. They are Mrs. Emma Bailey, Olympia, Wash.; P. W. Hilsabeck, Ferguson; Mrs. Rebecca Smith, Glencoe, Okla.; D. W. and Roy Hilsabeck and Mrs. Minnie Arney, Albion, and M. C. Hilsabeck and Mrs. Liza Grammer, of Liscomb. Seven brothers and sisters who survive him are J. W. Hilsabeck, Pine River, Minn.; J. F., Ferguson; Frank, Lamoille; E. H., Redfield, S. D.; Mrs. Lena Elsberry, who lives south of this city; Mrs. Matilda Turner, Albion, and Mrs. Ella Bellus, of this city. The funeral will be held at 2:30 Sunday at the Bethel Grove church, and will be in charge of members of the Albion Masonic lodge of which Mr. Hilsabeck was a member. The church will be open at 1:30. Burial will be in the Bethel Grove cemetery.
