FORMER RESIDENT DEAD

---Lonnie Garten Victim of Influenza at Home in Peoria---

Mrs. Martin Coyne, 306 South First avenue, received a telegram Sunday telling of the death of her brother-in-law, Lonnie Garten from pneumonia following influenza at 9 o’clock Saturday evening at his home in Peoria, Ill. Mr. Garten is the son of Mrs. A. E. Spease, of Albion, and formerly made his home at Albion and in Marshalltown until six years ago when he went to Peoria. While there he was employed by J. N. Baughman. He was born near Vale, March 12, 1887 and moved to Albion when a small boy with his parents. Four years ago he was married in Peoria to Miss Nellie Holmes, of Grinnell, who survives him as well as the mother and step-father, also four sisters and two brothers. They are Mrs. Frank Avey, of Faribault, Minn.; Mrs. Della Boyd, of Newton; Mrs. Allie Bridgeman, city; Mrs. Vinnie Graves, Albion; Mont Garten, Backus, Minn.; and Walter C. Garten, Princeton, Minn. The body will be brought to Albion and burial will be at Bethel Grove.
